Darrin Carr Memorial

This scholarship is awarded in memory of Darrin Carr, a dedicated Newbury Park High School English teacher and former girls’ softball coach.  Mr. Carr was a humble man who cared deeply for his family, friends, colleagues and students alike. He devoted countless hours to helping students realize their true potential inside and outside of the classroom, as well as, offering support and encouragement to fellow teachers. College-bound applicants applying for this scholarship, graduating from the senior class of 2017, must be former students of Mr. Carr’s. Candidates should submit an additional essay (200 words maximum) describing their memory of Mr. Carr as a teacher who served as a role model of an active, well-rounded member of the panther community and describe how their own activities on campus reflect and represent Mr. Carr’s inspiration.
